Behind-the-scenes footage of Alice Guy Blaché, the first known female director. She started her career in film in 1896 under Léon Gaumont in France. Within fifteen years, she had her own production company and studio in Fort Lee, New Jersey. You can see her in the foreground, wearing a typical Victorian dress.
